a twist in my story

Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers.

{event} happy hour & a night in downtown san jose

Ever have one of those days where you feel like you should’ve been more productive? I had one yesterday! I didn’t do much besides catching up with my TV shows.. and all the time I was thinking I could be reading ahead for my classes or working on my internship assignments. I guess that’s why my day felt pretty slow.. and it felt longer because I was anxiously waiting to go out to Happy Hour with my “Davis Shore girls.”

Six o’clock finally rolled around, and I went over to Washington Hospital to pick up Ashley. It might sound dumb, but living in Fremont for so many years.. I didn’t even know there were different parts of Washington Hospital! That combined with my horrible sense of direction resulted in me turning into three different entrances thinking I found the right place. Alas, Ashley called and just told me to meet her at the Walgreens close to the hospital. (If anyone ever needed me to take them to the Emergency Room, that could be bad news!)

Because Tina was heading over to Fremont from San Jose, we had some time to kill. We decided to get boba from Tea Island, and since they don’t have a sit down area, we just walked around the supermarket. When Tina was almost in Fremont, we headed over to Little Mad Fish for happy hour!

Yum! I had Little Mad Fish twice this week! :) Sushi is just too delicious, wouldn’t you agree?

With Ashley and Tina! :) We had such good talks about life and future plans. It makes me miss not living in the same city as them cause then we don’t get to see each other as frequently.

After dinner and drinks, we headed over to San Jose. I’ve been to Downtown San Jose once or twice, but never with Tina and her San Jose friends. (I was kind of scared cause I know they go all out!)

Before we met up with her friends, we pre-gamed like our good old college days.

I wish I could say I knew which bars we were going to, went to, wanted to go to.. but there were so many bars in Downtown San Jose that my head was spinning (and not from the alcohol!). But there are so many people waiting in line at some bars.. ridiculous! If Downtown San Jose was more like Downtown Davis, in the sense that everything was walking distance from each other, I thought it would’ve been easier to hit up more spots. Alas, I still had a great time with fun people!

It’s always a good night when I earn four Yelp badges! Honestly, I pretty much knew I wasn’t going to get any of the alcohol-related badges because I don’t go out much, so it was pretty exciting when these badges popped up last night! I was definitely most excited for the Mexi-Can badge cause I’ve been eating at more Mexican places with Chris.. in hopes of getting this badge. (Not going to lie: getting badges on Yelp is probably my favorite thing about Yelp.)

And what topped off a great night was that Chris, who’s in New York aka three hours ahead of me, stayed up waiting for me so we can chat for a few minutes. I’m pretty jealous because he’s going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with his friends right now!

  1. This sushi looks so good :) (And I know what you mean about having unproductive days).

  2. Please teach me how to take such great pictures of food!
