a twist in my story

Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers.

{event} the boy’s birthday

I haven’t been sleeping well for the past week because I keep waking up with cough attacks. I’m sick.. again? I know. I seriously need a new immune system. I feel a lot better than a week ago, but this cough just won’t go away! Anyways, I woke up early for an internship skype meeting with my boss and fellow interns. Afterwards, even though my bed was calling for me to take a nap, I ended up finishing up some work since I knew I wouldn’t be home for the whole day since it’s my boyfriend’s birthday!

After running some errands, Chris and I went to the Bagel Shop for a small lunch. We forgot that the high school kids got out for lunch around that time, so after getting our orders, the little shop was bombarded with chatty teeny boppers. I still can’t believe I graduated high school about 5 years ago!

We headed to Union City to catch a movie before our dinner reservations in San Francisco. We’ve been wanting to watch Contraband since it came out, so picking a movie wasn’t a problem this time. (Mark Wahlberg is always in cool movies, and Kate Beckinsale is super pretty!) The movie was alright – there were some pretty cool parts, but it wasn’t anything “super badass” like I expected all Mark Wahlberg movies to be! And Kate Beckinsale shouldn’t ever be a blonde again. I also wish she got a bigger role in the movie!

Expecting traffic since it was rush hour, we hurried to get to San Francisco. Surprisingly, the traffic wasn’t too bad, especially for a rainy day! Chris jokingly said that the only reason I was going to San Francisco with him was so he could use the carpool lane, hah.

Chris wanted to eat Brazilian BBQ for his birthday, so we decided to try Espetus Churrascaria in San Francisco. We had Brazilian BBQ at Texas de Brazil a year ago in Las Vegas, and it was quite an experience, so I was really looking forward to eating here. They have a cute little sign on your table so the servers know whether they should go to your table to offer meat or not.

They offer free appetizers! The fried bananas were so bomb. Of course, I ate them all – I didn’t want to share with Chris. (Okay, that and he doesn’t like fruits or desserts.) I wanted to get a picture of my plate with a variety of meats, but I kept finishing them as they kept coming. (Sorry if this picture isn’t very pretty!) That steak kind of looks like a heart!

People on Yelp raved about the chicken hearts, so of course, we had to try it! Chris was a big fan and ate about 6 of these. It might have been a mental thing for me, but I just couldn’t eat these chicken hearts! I mean, Asians do eat a lot of “weird” things, but I’ve never had chicken hearts before so I was a little skeptical. I tried one.. and it definitely took me a while to swallow it. The texture is just a little weird, and it tasted nothing like chicken! It also didn’t help that Chris kept making “heart beat” sounds because he knew I was having trouble eating the heart.

The birthday boy! It’s my turn to wine and dine him! :)

We haven’t taken a picture together in so long! But yay! :)

Even though it’s his big day, Chris still wanted to take me to get boba since he claims I crave it everyday. (Probably true.) Since all the boba places in San Francisco were out of the way, we decided to just go to a boba shop in Alameda, which was on the way home. I’ve heard great things about the San Francisco TeaWay, so I was pretty excited to try it in Alameda! Boba for about $2!? I’m sold! Besides it being self serve for toppings, the tea was pretty good. If only they opened one in Fremont..

One day & four cities. I’m pooped!
